Psalms - Old Testament
Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. Deliver me from my enemies, O God; protect me from those who attack me.
  • 2. Save me from evildoers and deliver me from murderers.
  • 3. See how they lie in wait for me! Cruel men conspire against me, though I have committed no transgression or sin, O Lord.
  • 4. Even though I am innocent, they are preparing to attack me. Rise up to help me; consider my situation!
  • 5. O Lord God Almighty, God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations; have no pity on wicked traitors.
  • 6. They return at dusk, growling like dogs and roaming the city.
  • 7. See how they threaten; their lips are like swords, saying, “Who will listen to us?”
  • 8. But you, O Lord, will laugh at them; you will have all the nations in derision.
  • 9. O my strength, I will wait for you; you, O God, are my high fortress.
  • 10. My merciful God will come to meet me and allow me to triumph over my enemies.
  • 11. Do not kill them, O Lord, our shield, or my people will forget them. In your power, make them wander and overthrow them.
  • 12. Because of the sins of their mouth, because of the words of their lips, they are caught in their own arrogance. Because of their curses and lies that they utter,
  • 13. consume them in your anger, consume them until they are no more. Then it will be known to the ends of the earth that God reigns over Jacob.
  • 14. They return at dusk, growling like dogs and roaming the city.
  • 15. They look for food and, if they are not satisfied, they howl.
  • 16 But I will sing of your strength; in the morning I will praise your faithfulness, for you are my stronghold, a refuge in times of trouble.
  • 17. O my strength, I will praise you; you, O God, are my high strength, the God who loves me.
